Well, its January and our team is busy with boat shows and final deals with sponsors for 2006. We will be at the Austin Boat Show representing Hill Country Boats and Shallow Sport Boats January 14-15th.
Todd and I are excited about the new season, with all the tournament series starting in March. Spring is my favorite time of the year to fish, and there are many tournaments scheduled for March, April and May.
Many thanks to Waterloo Rods, as the new owner has agreed to “step up” their level of sponsorship. Their rods are 2nd to none…. and the finish and weight is incredible. When a fisherman cast over 1000 times in a single day, you begin to appreciate the lightweight aspects of a Waterloo rod. Especially when you have to get up at 4:00am the following morning and do it all over again!

After all the hurricanes messed up our final FLW tournament……..we qualified to fish the FLW Redfish Championship in Orange Beach, Alabama. We are heading out this week to give us ample time to pre-fish. We are excited to fish somewhere else other than Texas or Louisiana……but we need to “fish smart” and rely on our instincts and experience. I have never fished these waters, so I don’t have a clue as to what the habitat actually looks like.

A word from Forrest L Wood

WOW! What a tournament at the FLW in Galveston. It’s been a crazy week with an awesome ending.

Our first pre-fishing day started with a bang with Todd and I catching around 14 lbs in 20 minutes or so at our first spot. We left them biting and tried another area south, and ran directly onto a hard sand bar. Our boat was stuck for over 24 hours….and we finally had to call a tow boat to get us off so that we could fish the tournament. That left us about 4 hours to pre-fish before the captain’s meeting. Not much time to fish a new area for sure.
